We are excited to offer this unique workshop that combines ecological restoration with plant ID. Location: Garber Park, Oakland – 9:30am start on 2/21/15. Generously sponsored and hosted by the Claremont Canyon Conservancy and Garber Park Stewards.
RSVP required since spaces are limited: more info from Garber Park Stewards below.
After the recent rains Garber has sprung back to life – the Ferns are at their best and the trilliums are beginning to bloom. It’s a GREAT time to visit Garber. We have a few spaces still open for our 3rd Winter Workshop with Lech Naumovich, Golden Hour Restoration Institute: Fern ID and Fern Glade Expansion Workshop. These Winter Workshops, sponsored by Claremont Canyon Conservancy and Garber Park Stewards, have been an overwhelming success. Lech’s workshops are always hands-on, informative, and FUN. We hope you can join us – Details below:
Fern ID and Fern Glade Expansion Workshop in Garber Park
(near the Claremont Hotel in Claremont Canyon)
With Lech Naumovich, Goldenhour Restoration Institute
Saturday, February 21, 9:30am-12:30pm
(coffee and snacks @ 9:15am)
The morning will begin with Lech guiding us in a walk, identifying Garber’s many native ferns, and talking about their habitat. We will then continue expanding Garber’s newest and most beautiful restoration site, Fern Glade, while discussing how to create good conditions for fern regeneration on site (in situ), monitoring, Healthy Forests, and Phythopthera. Each participant will receive a simple and easy FERN ID GUIDE for the East Bay!
Meet at the Evergreen Lane Entrance. Directions can be found on our website at www.garberparkstewards.org. Click on Directions in the Menu Bar at the top, which includes AC Transit Directions. I recommend parking at the Claremont Ave. Entrance and walking up the trail, which takes you past Fern Glade and Fireplace Plaza to the Evergreen Lane Hillside Stairs, and to the Evergreen Lane Entrance where coffee and morning snacks are waiting for you!
