We will be meeting at 10am at Mitchell Canyon with the goal of learning about Sudden Oak Death, its life cycle, and it’s grave impacts. Our field talk will culminate in a survey of bay laurels (for SOD) in Mitchell Canyon. Educational material comes from the Matteo Lab at UC Berkeley. Please RSVP with Lech by Friday at 4 pm if you are interested in participating and he will send what you need to bring and what to expect. Long pants, water and GPS (or smartphone) are essentials. We do have a couple of GPS devices for loan.
Data collected will help provide information for the SOD bioblitz – here are the compiled results from 2011.
It will be a fun few hours exploring the cooler north facing slopes of Mitchell Canyon. We expect a small group and will have a limit of 10 participants. This will be the first known survey for SOD in the Diablo area.
